MAX6MUM Fixed-end Window Restrictors
Based on the same proven technology as the Lockable Window Restrictor, the fixed-end restrictor is the perfect solution for windows that do not need to ever be opened beyond a couple of inches. Unlike the Lockable model, the fixed-end restrictor cannot be unlocked eliminating and access. However as this model cannot be opened, it cannot be used on fire escape windows. The fixed window restrictor is ideal for places where you do not want the window to full open such as hospitals, nurseries, schools, hotels etc.
Every day children under the age of 15 are injured falling from windows. No matter how hard you try, it is almost impossible to watch them 24/7. Even if you do keep a close eye on them, you cannot guarantee that family members, friends or babysitters will do the same.
Luckily, there is a very simple, affordable and effective solution to this problem – the MAX6MUM Fixed-end Window Restrictor. The window restrictor limits the opening of a window to no more than 100mm (about 4 inches) – enough to enable air to circulate throughout your home, but not enough for someone to fit through. The opening width can be decreased if necessary during installation by positioning the fixing points further apart from each other.
The MAX6MUM SECURITY window restrictor can be fitted to any profile and style of window or doors – including aluminum, wood, metal and uPVC profiles. It is extremely easy to install yourself, and comes with all the parts necessary, including self-drilling screws. A step-by-step guide of how to fit the window restrictor is also provided here, meaning you can easily fit the restrictor in just a couple of minutes.
The window restrictor cable is fixed on both ends and cannot removed without removing the unit and so cannot be unlocked. Please note that since this model cannot be opened it is NOT suitable on fire escape windows. For fire escape windows please refer to the lockable model.
The MAX6MUM Fixed-end Window Restrictor is strong – and can withstand forces over 100kg (that’s 220 lbs!), which is more than enough to take the weight of almost any child. This is twice the industry standard of 50kg!
A unique feature on popular models, such as the white model, is that the plastic used on both the cable and locking system is MRSA resistant. MRSA is a antibiotic resistant bacteria that can cause serious illness. A special chemical has been added to our plastic, which kills the MRSA virus when touched. The window restrictor therefore not only stops your children from falling out of a window, but also helps prevent your child – and yourself – from catching the MRSA virus.
In addition to being a window safety device, the MAX6MUM Fixed-end Window Restrictor is also a crime deterrent – preventing criminals from using the window as an access point to the home, especially if the window is on the ground floor. As the restrictor cable is made from hardened steel, it is extremely difficult to cut. This means that, during the summer, you can leave your windows open to let fresh air in, and feel secure knowing that someone is not going to easily open the window and break into your home.

The MAX6MUM SECURITY fixed-end window restrictor is suitable for all kinds of windows including PVC, aluminum, wooden and metal profiles. The window restrictor is supplied with 4 x 4mm steel self-drilling screws. We suggest that you fit the window restrictor in the middle of the profile both vertically and horizontally. It is recommended to drill a 3mm hole in the profile before installation, to make it easier for the screws to be drilled in.
To fit the Window Restrictor, we have supplied self-drilling screws (A x 4), a steel cable (B x 1), locking system and plastic cap (C x 1), and a key (D x 1)
A – Self-drilling screws
B – Steel Cable
C & D – Mounting brackets & plastic caps
- You will first need to decide where on your window you want to put the restrictor. We suggest that you fit the window restrictor in the middle of the longest side opposite the hinges.
- Take one of the Mounting brackets (C) and place it on the window frame). Mark the 2 screw holes on the window frame using a pencil.
- Using a drill or screwdriver, screw two self-drilling screws (A) into the locking system to secure it to the window.
- Take the other mounting bracket (D) on the window panel (making sure that the cable is not tight and has length for the window to open) and mark the 2 screw holes using a pencil.
- Using a drill or screwdriver, screw two self-drilling screws (A) into the end of the cable to secure it to the panel.
- Attach the plastic cap by pressing it securely onto the mountings
